After experimenting with different shapes and sizes i have come down to my final design of my board. The board is now a square with 10×10 spaces around the board. There are 4 bases located around the board for each player as well as many boards spaces to land on including ore dispensers, (copper, gold, diamond) pick up a card and railway tracks. The board is ment to be fair to all player when they start from there base. You can see the boards itself below. Lastly i have also designed what the games pieces that each player will be moving around the board, which are minecarts. This not only fitting the theme of my board game but also giving the functionality of carrying around the ores you collect as you move around the board. Each minecart being the same colour as the players bases, preventing confusion.
As of may 2020, i have finally finalised my board game with its look, theme, rules and overall function. Firstly i have made the objective of the game/ how to win as well as how to play. Below you can see the completed rules book, but of-course the design and layout could still change. Inside the rule book you can see the objective of the game, setup, explanations on how to play, cards, action cards, bumping, bases and more. Lastly having boards spaces explanations and ore values. The main purpose for the rules book is so anyone can look at it if they don’t understand how to play or if they need to clarify something.
As of the 27th of march 2020, i have begun to finalize my major work desgins. As stated before i want to create a game board, But i have decided to change the concept for my game including its rules, look and overall how to play/win. I have begun to finalize the rules, but as now the games is board rules area as followed:
how to play/ win:
Players take turns drawing cards from the provided deck moving around the board corresponding to the number on the card starting from there teams colours base. Around the boards are multiples spaces including ores you can collect being copper, gold and diamond each worth a diffrent amount, as well as othere spots such as action spaces wich if landed on a player will draw a card from the seperate deck known as the action card deck. This deck can have a variety of cards such as switching place with a player, stealing treasure from a base and more. The goal is after a certain amount of turns which player has collected the most amount of treasure (having it in there base) wins. This is done by collecting the ores around the board and returning it to your base. But othere players can steal ores from you by either landing on the same spot as you or drawing a card that gives them the option to steal. Ores can stored within bases so your loot cannot be stolen unless an action card says so.
Inlcuded in the game:
number cards: For moving around the board:
Action cards: Special cards that do certain actions
Board: having multiple spaces on each side to move including four player bases, blank spaces, ore spaces, lose ore spaces and action spaces
player pieces: Each player will have two player pieces to move around the board at once
Ores pieces: These will be physical pieces that your piece will carry around the board and store within your base, including copper, gold and diamond.

I have also begun to make the look of the game board, ores and rule book that i want to include within the game:
As i begin to start my Major HSC project, i shall start with my Statement of intent.
I intend to create a board game inspired from the hit title series Monopoly. My game board will be targeted more to the younger side ranging from ages 10-18. My game board will be centred around conquering all of the land on the board by claiming as many locations, while trying to gain all of you opponent’s gold. I will achieve this by through a range of ways such as the design of the board itself, the playable games pieces, locations across the board and many more features each creating a fun experience for each player. Production will be held in multiple locations in Sydney, such as My school and my office at home.
